AJ Lowery joins our team after 12 years as an Apprentice Electrician. His primary responsibility at MEP Engineering includes field survey. His electrical field work background gives AJ unique knowledge on site survey. This knowledge allows him to easily recognize existing conditions that need MEP Engineering to address during design. He works directly with our Tenant Improvement Team on a weekly basis assisting them in meeting the tight deadlines that TI work demands. Because of his unique work experience, AJ is frequently brought on to larger renovation projects to identify and analyze complex building’s branch circuit wiring.

Outside of work, AJ has a young son and absolutely loves being a dad. He enjoys camping and watching a variety of sports. AJ’s favorite foods are Mexican and BBQ.

Alicia came to MEP Engineering in October 2012 after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. Following her Bachelor’s Degree, Alicia decided that she wanted to learn more, and received her Associate’s Degree in CAD at Westwood College of Denver.

She was born and raised with Billings, MT with her younger brother. Her parents still live in MT and she tries to make a couple of trips up there each year. Alicia has lived in Colorado since 2009 where she met her husband. In addition to their family they have two boys and a dog.

Amanda came to MEP Engineering in March of 2012 after 7 years in the hospitality industry. She is experienced in all aspects of business management and marketing. She develops, promotes and executes MEP Engineering’s strategic sales and marketing plan. Her proven experience in developing “big picture” goals, coupled with excellent execution of all the details continues to lead MEP Engineering to grow in new directions. Her prompt and systematic servicing of all corporate accounts through consultative relationship development results in “Win-Win” business partnerships built on trust and mutual growth.

Amanda has a beautiful one-year-old daughter named Emery and is an excellent mom. Amanda enjoys playing soccer, softball, hiking and running half marathons.

Amber joined us in February 2011. As an experienced CAD Operator, she was quickly promoted to our BIM Coordinator Position. As our industry explores the deeper benefits of BIM, Amber leads the effort to ensure all project models are set up according to correct project standards.

Outside of work, Amber enjoys movie and game nights, as well as going camping and hiking. She relished traveling to Mexico and the Caribbean and plans to travel more in the future. She likes to stay active by playing volleyball, softball, mini golf, and Frisbee golf. Amber has a cat named Milo with a big personality. Amber is a Colorado native who grew up here with her two brothers and one sister.

Amy joined MEP in January of 2019 bringing 9 years in the construction industry. She is a US Airforce Veteran and worked with the Department of Defense as a contractor before deciding to learn electrical engineering for MEP design. She graduated from the Colorado Technical University with a Master’s in Engineering Management. Amy currently aims to receive her Professional Engineering license in electrical engineering for the state of Colorado.

Outside of work, Amy enjoys playing billiards and golf. She is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico and has four children.

Austin joined the MEP drafting team in August 2017. He has an AutoCAD certification and is currently attending Red Rocks Community College working towards his Applied Science for Engineering Graphics-Architectural.

Austin enjoys looking at architecture and watching buildings come to life from the design phase to through construction. Austin's hobbies include skateboarding, fixing cars, photography, going to the mountains, and attending concerts at Red Rocks.

Braden is a Colorado native. He loves the outdoors, skydiving, and scuba diving. Braden’s family encourages his love for traveling and he plans to travel as often as he can.

In September of 2016, Brett joined MEP Engineering as a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 23 years of experience working at MEP consulting firms. Brett’s favorite project so far was the Hewlett Packard Dining Hall and Data Center at their 335,000 SF facility in Greeley, CO. On this project, his team acted as the commissioning agent as well as doing the MEP engineering/design as the prime consultant.

Brett has been married to his wife, Regina, for 26 years and they have two boys named Andrew and William. Andrew is a junior at Baylor University and Will is a senior in high school. Brett loves to travel, especially to the UK to tour the castles. When he is not traveling, Brett’s favorite pastimes are hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Brian has been with MEP Engineering since February 2012. He previously attended Colorado School of Mines and majored in Mechanical Engineering. Brian is especially interested in LEED Design Projects. Brian and the TI team have a project turnaround time of 5-7 days. Despite this pressure, they are absolutely fantastic at what they do!

Outside of work, Brian is a Colorado Native that loves to homebrew his own beer, collect records and go hiking. Brian has gone on numerous cross country road trips with his friends and family.

Byron became a member of our Mechanical Engineering team in November 2013. As an experienced, licensed master plumber, he brings real-world knowledge to MEP that allows him to produce highly- functioning and cost -effective designs. Byron has worked on a wide variety of projects and enjoys innovating unique solutions for technical challenges. Some of his favorite project types include industrial facilities and secondary education.

Byron is a Colorado native who lives in Englewood with his wife and four boys. He loves fishing, hiking, playing bass guitar, photography, BBQ, and classic cars.

Clara is an Electrical Project Engineer with over 12 years of experience in the engineering field. She performs electrical, lighting, and photometric engineering design services as well as team coordination for all electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings with other team members, contractors and vendors. She has provided site evaluation, design development, construction document and construction administration for new construction as well as renovation projects. Her project knowledge ranges from churches, to retail and restaurants.

Clara and her husband Andrew have four boys Andrew, Alex, Addison, and Anderson. They love spending time with their boys and spend most their free time attending the boy’s sporting events. Clara also really enjoys relaxing, watching movies, and working out.

David has a tremendous amount of experience working on government projects, including the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and State Department.

David enjoys a wide variety of recreational activities including target shooting and keeping tarantulas. He has a great sense of humor which makes the work atmosphere a fun and entertaining place to be. David grew up in Pensacola, Florida. He and his wife loved to come to Colorado for vacation. They enjoyed Colorado so much, that they decided this was the place they wanted to spend the rest of their lives and moved here.

He believes that functionality and budget on projects are very important. He has the knowledge and insight necessary to assemble complete and accurate electrical designs. Dennis likes to stay busy; he is always working on a project, no matter if it is work related or a personal project.

He is happily married to his wife Patti and they have two beautiful daughters. In addition to their family, they also have three dogs and two cats. Dennis loves to travel to Hawaii and go to My Brother’s Bar in Denver to get the best burger in town! When Dennis gets the time he really enjoys playing golf.

Donne joined MEP as a Drafter in early 2017 with seven years’ previous experience in the AEC industry. When he first joined this industry, he focused primarily on graphic design until AutoCAD caught his attention. Donne became intrigued with AutoCAD which lead him to becoming an excellent drafter.

In his spare time, he enjoys staying active by hiking, mountain climbing, and backpacking. He also makes time to go camping and travel.

Dylan has been a Mechanical Project Engineer with MEP Engineering since April 2016. He came to MEP straight after finishing his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and Chemistry from Northern Arizona University. Dylan enjoyed creating a solar oven during college, a hands-on project which involved a great deal of teamwork and creative thinking. The oven was created for under twenty-five dollars, was made almost exclusively of cardboard and mylar, and cooked eggs within two hours in the AZ winter.

Dylan was born in California, then moved to Arizona for college, and ended up in Colorado to join the MEP team. Dylan’s hobbies include Krav Maga, which is a form of self-defense. He took up the art four years ago as a way to get exercise and plans to become an instructor in the near future. Dylan has also recently begun leather crafting, which he is still new to, but really enjoys.

Eric enjoys staying active and has been a competitive jump roper for 16 years. He also was a member of the USAJR All-Star team for 4 years. While being a part of this team he got the opportunity to travel, compete, perform, and train other Jumpers on a world scale. He is proud to have 7 national titles, 2 grand national titles, and one world title in competition.

As a certified plumbing design technician, Eric has an exceptional perspective on integrating all disciplines into his designs. Eric’s 6 years of industry experience spans a broad range of project types, from high-rise and commercial properties to hospitality venues and theaters.

Originally starting in the industry as a drafter, Eric was hooked on plumbing design almost immediately. He enjoys the challenge of new project types, learning new tricks and striving to become a better designer with each project he completes. Outside the office, Eric and his wife Yolanda have two children and he enjoys camping, coaching his children’s hockey teams and woodworking. He is also a car enthusiast who loves exotic and modified Japanese and Korean imports.

She moved to Colorado from Minnesota in 2015. Greta and her husband have two dogs. The first is a nine-year-old Shiba lnu and the other is a seven-year-old Black Lab and Pit-bull mix. The latter was originally a foster dog until the couple fell in love with him and couldn’t give him up! Greta grew up in Minnesota and went to college in Wisconsin. She then moved to Seattle for grad school and then eventually moved to Colorado. She enjoys walks, reading, DIY projects, and spending time with her family.

Project types such as Office, Retail, Warehouse, Schools, Churches, Multifamily, Transportation, local, state & federal government projects.

In May 2017, Jonathan was brought on board the MEP Engineering team as a Plumbing Designer. His favorite project involved revisiting design standards to overcome pressures from different sump/sewages pump systems while still managing to climb up hill with the effluent to reach the point of a gravity feed sewer system.

Jonathan enjoys all forms of art and loves to incorporate that into each of his designs.

In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys working and playing with Cars. He also has a passion for being in the mountains whether that is hiking, biking or climbing.

She has been in this industry since 1994. She produces construction plans, system specifications and cost analyses. She also provides coordination between various disciplines, clients and owner representatives.

She is a Colorado Native who enjoys spending time with her family, running, and cheering on her kid’s sports teams. Both Karena and her husband grew up being the only child in their families. In addition to their kids, they also have a large Great Dane that thinks he is a lap dog!

Graduating from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelors in Business Administration and Marketing, Kristy was the Accounts Receivable Specialist for an active retirement community in Aurora. As MEP’s Accounts Receivable and Recruiting Coordinator, she brings a variety of skills and experience to our Marketing Team. Kristy is a Colorado Native; she has lived in Parker her whole life. Her spare time is mainly spent driving her daughter, Leigha to piano lessons, recitals and competitions. She also enjoys being on the lake, boating, fishing and wakeboarding.

Mark has over 25 years of experience in mechanical/plumbing building systems design for many types of facilities.

He is a wonderful father of three boys named Kyle, Mason, and Austin. Mark really enjoys restoring old muscle cars and traveling to Las Vegas.

Mark truly values working the client and MEP team to provide a mechanical system that exceeds the client’s expectations.

Mark came aboard the MEP team in November 2015 as an Electrical Project Engineer. He specializes in residential and commercial buildings. He is a very dedicated individual who graduated from Ecotech Institute with his AAS in Electrical Engineering with a 4.0 GPA. Mark really enjoys the outdoors and loves to partake in biking, golfing, hiking, camping and snowboarding. He likes to spend his spare time working on cars or anything mechanical. His interest in working on mechanical projects was inspired by his first car which happened to be a ’69 Camaro. Besides cars and the great outdoors, Mark really enjoys watching the Broncos and Nebraska Corn Huskers.

Mike joined MEP as a Senior Electrical Engineer in December of 2016. He came with 38 years of experience in the industry and a passion for what he does. His favorite project was a 4th Avenue & Jackson custom residence because it was a rare opportunity to provide full electrical lighting design for a high end private residence with attached historic western art gallery. He also enjoyed working on the Museum of Discovery in Fort Collins, CO and the Drug Enforcement Agency in Centennial, CO because he was able to provide electrical design while overcoming challenges.

Mike is an active member of IES Denver Section, was on section Board of Managers for 12 years, and has served as President of the Section. He has been, and will continue to be, very active in the industry. As a native, he has a strong tie to Colorado and enjoys bicycling, hiking, and photography.

Mitchell Sawin

Mitchell has over 10 years of experience in the engineering field. Mitchell performs electrical, lighting and photometric engineering design services as well as team coordination for all electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings with other team members, contractors and vendors. Mitchell is lead electrical designer for the T.I. team. He has provided site evaluation, design development, construction document and construction administration for new construction as well as renovation projects. His project knowledge ranges from tenant finish, commercial, education, office buildings to warehouse/industrial buildings.

Mitchell was born and raised in Gardnerville, Nevada before moving to Las Vegas for college. Following college, he moved here to Colorado. Mitchell’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, shooting, and volunteering with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office. He also likes to watch sports such as football, NASCAR, and competitive shooting. Mitchell and his wife Stephanie have four children, Madison, Bailey, Lincoln and Hudson.

Nick joined our engineering team in March of 2015 after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Colorado Denver. His design experience ranges from the smallest of tenant improvements to large new construction.

Nick is originally from Hawaii and lived there for most of his life but moved to Colorado seven years ago. He appreciates the change of pace here, including the winter weather! For fun, he studies geography, demographics, and elections. Nick also enjoys classic 80’s films, and wishes they would stop remaking them.

Nick came to MEP with two years of experience in building systems operation and management. He joined the MEP drafting team in early February of 2016. In addition to working at MEP full time, Nick is also currently finishing his Associates of Applied Science in Engineering Technology at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colorado.

In Nick’s personal life, he really enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking and rock climbing. However, he also enjoys time indoors playing the bass guitar/banjo, cooking, and drinking wine. Nick’s favorite sport is hockey and is a huge New York Rangers fan.

Nimma Eftekhari

Nimma joined MEP Engineering as a drafter in 2012. With over 12 years’ experience in drafting, he is a valuable team resource. He has experience in commercial kitchen design, drafting fire alarm systems and fire sprinkler design. He really enjoys larger projects such as Union Station Apartments and Delgany Lofts in Denver.

Outside of work, Nimma enjoys fixing up his car. He also relishes archery and going hiking. Although Nimma likes to stay active, he also likes to kick back with a relaxing movie at home.

He graduated from California State University with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering. Peter maintains efficient and effective communication with every MEP client, aiming to exceed expectations at every turn. Outside of work, Peter enjoys hiking, drawing and spending time with his son.

Randy joined MEP in June of 2017 as a Technical Adviser and Director of our mechanical quality control team. He has experience in multiple areas of the HVAC industry including twelve years in equipment sales, representing manufactures products ranging from custom air handling equipment to terminal devices. Randy started his career in consulting engineering with primary emphasis in healthcare design. He has a passion for HVAC, improving indoor environments, applying energy efficient solutions and designing complex mechanical systems. Randy also has a strong connection to people and enjoys mentoring.

Randy is happily married and has two beautiful daughters. He spends majority of his time supporting his daughters’ and attending their sporting events. He enjoys riding his dirt bike, fly fishing, golfing, and snowboarding.

Roger has 23 years of experience in the engineering consulting field, with an emphasis on electrical, fire alarm, and telecom building systems. His education as an Architectural Engineer allows him to expand his expertise into the mechanical and plumbing disciplines enabling him to work in and design all systems within a building. Roger possesses the unique ability to visualize a project from start to finish; meaning difficult building system problems become very clear and concise.

Roger has been happily married to his wife Carla for over twenty-three years. They have two wonderful children, Jessica and David.

Russel is a versatile Mechanical and Plumbing Designer with over 25 years in the field. His project experience ranges from hospitals, hospitality properties, educational spaces and government locations to office, and aviation properties. He studied Design Technology at Utah Valley Community College and is affiliated with ASPE. One of his all-time favorite projects during his career was the new International Terminal at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, NV due to the size and complexity of the project.

In his spare time, Russel enjoys working on projects around his home and watching sports.

As one of MEP Engineering’s Mechanical Design Engineers, Travis brings over six years of experience as an engineer in both low and high-rise facilities. He is a Colorado Registered E.I. and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in General Engineering from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.

Travis has a passion for gravity sports including snowboarding, downhill mountain biking, and heli-skiing. He really enjoys watching hockey and is a huge Colorado Avalanche fan! He has two turtles named Tweedle and Tenacious. Travis has lived with his sister and parents in Colorado since he was six months old. Travis will be marrying his fiancée in January 2016 in Switzerland!

As a founding Principal of MEP Engineering combined with over thirty-five years of experience in engineering, Tom contributes a high level of quality design as well as a strong desire for building and maintaining long-term client relationships. He sets an example by providing great customer service, paying attention to detail, providing internal quality control and developing new business. Tom has held management positions in engineering, marketing, and business development. His strong background and diverse knowledge of mechanical systems, plumbing and fire protection systems has allowed him to deliver design excellence and add value to projects, resulting in a high level of client satisfaction.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys spending time in the sunshine and hanging out with his family and especially is son Connor who is fourteen years old. Tom also enjoys golf, even when the game isn’t always “nice to him.” If you ever visit Tom’s office, you will find all sorts of purple gear that represents the Kansas State University Wildcats; he is a huge fan! Tom has an outgoing and fun personality. He encourages laughter in the office which helps create our great working environment

Travis joined our Engineering team as an Electrical Project Engineer in November of 2012. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Architectural Engineering and Construction Management. Travis brings six years of previous experience to the company and is currently a registered Engineer Intern with the State of Colorado. His specialties include electrical design on a variety of project types including: Major League Sports and Event Venues, K-12 Educational Facilities, and Multi-Family Residential Complexes. Travis brings knowledge of construction project management and understands project delivery from start to finish.

Travis’ main interests are snowboarding, golf, yoga, and hiking. He likes to travel and thinks the best vacation spots have a beach – Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Key West are some notable destinations. Travis was born in Houston, Texas, moved to Denver when he was 7 years old, and has lived in the Colorado front range area since. He and his wife Kristin have two young boys Parker and Brady.

Tom Tarrant joined the Engineering team as a Mechanical Project Engineer in May 2013. Tom brings over 30 years of experience in the Mechanical Engineering industry. His specialties in recent years include educational and medical facilities—he takes a great interest in both. Tom coordinates, produces and designs of all mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems including production of construction plans, system specifications and cost analyses while maintaining building code requirements.

Tom’s hobbies include mountain biking, surfing and golf. He also enjoys traveling and he tries to go to Hawaii or someplace tropical at least once a year. As far as sports are concerned, Tom really likes motocross, flatrack, road racing, and basically anything with two or more wheels. Tom has been married to his wonderful wife Stacie for 23 years and they have a son, Nate who is attending college at Colorado State University.

Zach joined MEP in December of 2018, bringing previous mechanical experience in the AEC industry. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. Zach enjoys finding diverse solutions to complex building issues and maintaining clear and honest communications with every MEP client. His project specialties include healthcare facilities and corporate office work.

Zach enjoys playing the guitar and bass and records music in his free time. Since moving back to Denver from New Orleans, Zach takes advantage of the Colorado mountain ranges by snowboarding and hiking.
