Karena is more than a highly-experience mechanical engineer and project manager; she serves as a trusted advisor, partnering with clients to incorporate their design with efficient, long-lasting building systems. Karena is an integral part in the coordination between various disciplines, clients and owner representatives. She has deep experience in energy modeling and fundamental commissioning services, ensuring all design options are explored and the solutions thoroughly developed.
As an MEP Associate and project manager, Mark provides a high level of plumbing and mechanical expertise to every project he is part of. His more than three decades of experience spans a broad range of project types, ranging from large-scale government, infrastructure, commercial and corporate work to residential, mixed-use, hospitality and education facilities. He is adept at assembling the right team for each project and ensuring that all design options are explored and the solutions thoroughly developed. Mark has formed long-standing relationships with his clients, including city governments, commercial real estate developers and local school districts.
Travis joined the MEP team as an Electrical Project Engineer in November of 2012. Since that time, Travis has honed his design expertise, leading projects for clients ranging from multi-family development firms to educational institutions. He applies his extensive design knowledge to ensure that the right talent and design approach are brought to every project he leads. With a wide range of project specialties, Travis is passionate about translating his clients’ goals into a holistic design vision that is customized to serve their needs.
Tom Tarrant joined the engineering team as a Mechanical Project Engineer in May 2013. Tom has over 30 years of experience in the AEC Industry, specializing in educational and medical facilities—he takes a great interest in both. Tom has shown great dedication to his craft as well as his fellow co-workers and became an Associate at MEP in 2021. Tom coordinates, produces and designs of all mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems including production of construction plans, system specifications and cost analyses while maintaining building code requirements.He provides valuable thought leadership and project management on every project team Tom is part of.
With over 20 years of experience, Theresa Santos joined MEP Engineering in 2019 as a senior electrical engineer and went on to become an Associate at MEP in 2022. Theresa operates MEP’s tenant improvement team, focusing on new-build and office renovations throughout Denver. As a highly-skilled designer, Theresa ‘wows’ MEP clients with her technical ability, but her warm personality ensures they return. Theresa’s exciting demeanor and astounding work ethic creates a cooperative work environment between her and her team. Theresa loves creating new spaces and specializes in tenant improvement, new-build, renovations, mixed-use, and high-rise office buildings.

The LEED System is designed to rate new and existing commercial, environmental, institutional and high-rise residential buildings for environmental performance from a “whole building” perspective over a building’s lifecycle.
